Eligibility

The admissions process at CCUSOM takes a comprehensive approach, which involves assessing an applicant’s abilities, experiences, and academic performance. This approach is personalized, and considers a range of factors in order to provide a well-rounded assessment. While a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for applicants, there may be some exceptions made based on the quality of their essay, letters of recommendation, and extracurricular activities.

In order to be eligible for our degree programs, applicants must have successfully completed a minimum of 90 credit hours of college coursework, including the required prerequisite courses.

If applying as a transfer student from another medical school, the applicant must meet certain requirements depending on the country where the medical school is located. For international medical schools, the school should be listed on the World Directory of Medical Schools, while for US or Canadian medical schools, they must be accredited.

At the time of application and on the day of the test, you must satisfy one of the following requirements in order to be taken into consideration:

  1. You must be an officially enrolled medical student or a graduate from a US or Canadian medical school program accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) that leads to the MD degree.

  2. You must be an officially enrolled medical student or a graduate from a US medical school accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) that leads to the DO degree.

  3. You must be an officially enrolled medical student or a graduate from a medical school outside of the US and Canada, that is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and meets the eligibility criteria of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), in addition to other ECFMG eligibility requirements.
