Mission and Vision
The Columbus Central University School of Medicine (CCUSOM) in Belize City was established in 2006 and has grown to become one of the top medical schools in the Caribbean. Both ministry of education and the IAAR have accredited CCUSOM. Also accredited by the WHO, the school is listed in the Global Directory of Medical Schools.
The institution offers a 54-month doctor of medicine (MD) curriculum and encompasses the fundamentals of medical sciences, clinical competencies, and patient care. The program is based on the United States Medical Licensure Examination (USMLE) and is taught by experienced professors with expertise in patient care, medical research, and education.
CCUSOM features state-of-the-art facilities, including a modern anatomy lab, a simulation lab, and a computer lab. Students can obtain clinical experience and exposure to several medical specialisations at the school’s affiliated hospitals and clinics in Belize and the United States.
CCUSOM emphasises community service and outreach, with its students encouraged to participate in projects to improve the health and well-being of the Belizean community.
CCUSOM graduates excel in diverse medical specialities and are in high demand globally. A robust alumni network offers continuous guidance to current and new graduates.
